Mohenis Services, a family-owned company with 95 years of success, is seeking an experienced Payroll & Benefits Manager to lead its payroll and benefits team in Petersburg, VA.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Accounting Experience: At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2–3 years focused on payroll and benefits functions.
- Leadership Experience: At least 1 year of management or supervisory experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing: Supervise and verify the accurate processing of bi-weekly or semi-monthly payrolls, ensuring taxes, garnishments, and deductions are calculated correctly.
- Benefits Administration: Manage the financial reconciliation of employee benefits, including medical, dental, 401(k), and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs).
- Compliance & Auditing: Maintain strict adherence to federal and state tax laws, FLSA guidelines, and ERISA regulations.
- General Ledger Reconciliation: Prepare and post payroll and benefits-related journal entries, accruals, and maintain balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Vendor Management: Act as the primary financial liaison with payroll providers (Isolved/Dominion Payroll) and benefits brokers or third-party administrators to resolve discrepancies and negotiate renewals.
- Reporting & Analysis: Compile statistical data and reports regarding payroll expenses, fringe benefits, and labor costs for budgeting and forecasting purposes.
