Duties and Responsibilities:
- Schedule Creation: Build and update detailed daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on sales forecasts and customer orders.
- Production plan for budgeting purposes annually.
- Resource Allocation: Assign staff, equipment, and raw materials efficiently to maximize plant performance.
- Locate and evaluate vendors for materials, if necessary.
- Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels of raw materials and finished goods to prevent costly shortages or excess overstock.
- Usage of lean principles would apply to processes and pull planning.
- Issue Resolution: Spot production bottlenecks or delays quickly and adjust workflows to minimize downtime.
- Cross-Function Communication: Work closely with procurement, warehouse, quality control, and plant managers to align on goals.
- Reporting: Track metrics and present production status and performance data to upper management.
