Freight Broker / Truck Sales Representative

Due to growth, AG Freight is seeking a Freight Broker/Truck Sales Representative to join their team in Piedmont, SC.

If you have at least 2 years of B2B truck/transportation sales experience or freight brokerage experience, or experience selling to the truck/transportation industry, AG Freight wants to hear from you!

• Monday – Friday daytime schedule: About 3 in-office days per week, and 2 days travelling locally to customers and prospective customers to build relationships. You will be home every night!

Essential duties/responsibilities:

• Travels throughout assigned territory to meet customers in person on a regular basis and cultivates a good relationship with all traffic persons, purchasing agents, production supervisors, sales representatives, executives, distributors, and agents who influence the decision on routing traffic
• Establish new accounts soliciting by phone
• Operational responsibilities will be a part of daily role as well
• Regularly check on major accounts
• Complete reports of monthly customer activities to identify their current level of business.
• Provide information on rates and rate changes.
• Submit itineraries on a daily basis for coverage areas to maximize efficiency when visiting customers.
• Inform the customer of our Expedited abilities.
• Manage transportation and entertainment expenses in an expense report that is submitted monthly.
• Keep a record of your daily sales calls and enter them in our computer system.
• Must be familiar with pricing and marketing principles and be able to support business planning efforts.
• Thrive under deadlines, drive results, multi-task and work with a sense of urgency
• Must display knowledge of and ability to use computer applications (Microsoft Office, Gmail, etc.) to understand, measure, and capitalize on sales opportunities.
• For our brokerage you must maintain constant contact with outside carriers to secure additional truck capacity and manage existing business agreements
• The individual selected will need to be self-motivated, and able to work unsupervised.
• Will be expected to manage their book of business like it is their own business.
• This position offers you the flexibility to work remotely
• Communicate by phone and email with team members, customers, drivers, and outside carriers
• Occasional Weekend and after-hours work are required
• Typical work week is around 50 hours.
