Schiller Grounds Care, Inc. was established on January 1, 2009, but the roots of our brands go back decades. Our Little Wonder, Mantis and Classen brands collectively represent over 100 years of engineering and manufacturing expertise.
Little Wonder was born in the United Kingdom in 1922, where the world’s first hedge trimmer, the “Little Wonder” Trimmer, was created to be a hand-cranked hedge trimmer. In 1935, the brand immigrated to America, via an acquisition by Pennsylvania based, Schiller-Pfeiffer, a predecessor to Schiller Grounds Care, Inc., the company that continues to manufacture Little Wonder today.
Mantis disrupted the gardening world in 1979 with the introduction of the now-famous Mantis Tiller. Mantis makes it easy to create and maintain beautiful and bountiful spaces. Manufactured in Southampton, Pennsylvania, with components made in the US and abroad, Mantis tillers and composters are used by millions of gardeners worldwide.
Classen began in 1973 in a small repair facility in Norfolk, Nebraska. It grew into steel fabrication and in early 1980, Classen’s first walk-behind core aerator was launched. Turf renovation became its core focus (no pun intended) and has grown into a favorite of the commercial and rental markets worldwide. Since 2004, Classen has been a part of the Schiller family and is proudly manufactured in Southampton, Pennsylvania.
Schiller Grounds Care, Inc. currently operates manufacturing facilities alongside our corporate headquarters in Pennsylvania. Along with our comprehensive network of distributors and retail partners around the world, Schiller Grounds Care is proud to be a key force within the green industry!
